Aussie Pet Grooming
What, pray tell, is Aussie Pet Grooming? Is it a way to "put some roo" in your pet's hairdo? Is it a business to groom just Australian shepherds? Not at all. Although Aussie Pet Grooming did originate in Sydney, Australia in 1996, it is now available in seventeen U.S. States. So popular is this mobile pet grooming business, that is has expanded into the UK, Canada, Ireland, and all over Asia. The U.S. operation iS based in California.
Aussie Pet Grooming is a mobile grooming service. The business features customized Mercedes vans to bring grooming service right to your door. These vans are fully equipped with grooming tables, equipment, and their own heated hydro bath tubs. I would love a heated hydro bath myself. These vans are staffed with trained stylists to groom your dog or cat and you don't have to leave the house. No more dragging your pet into the car for a stressful trip to the groomer. The groomer comes to you.
There are advantages to owning this type of business. There is no real estate involved and very little serious competition. Most mobile groomers are mom and pop operations. You won't have to deal with inventory or receivables. It's a cash business. You can do it yourself or hire an employee, but you won't need a large staff. Some vans are equipped to accommodate two groomers. Sounds good, doesn't it? You can ride around, play with other people's pets and make money doing it. What a life.
Franchises are available and the start up costs include all equipment. Now, how much will that set you back? A single unit runs around $50,000, with a multi unit running around $100,000. It sounds like a lot of money and it is, but compared to buying or renting a space and stocking it, it's a pretty good deal. Entrepreneur magazine named this the number one business in the pet category in 2008 and number eighty six over all. Not bad at all. Pets are much bigger business than many people realize.
Another advantage to buying a franchise is that there will be a support system. They got where they are because they have a proven system to help their franchisees succeed. Advertising is already done and you will be taught how to run your business to make a profit. The other nice thing is that how much business you do is up to you. You decide how big an area to cover and whether to work full or part time. If you are working for someone else and long for a shop of your own, this may be something to consider.
